About

Hyndberry was set up in 2008 by me, Catriona Staddon, original chef/proprietor of the highly acclaimed Linlithgow restaurant, Marynka. Setting up and running the restaurant was the fulfillment of a life-long ambition. But after eight years of long restaurant hours it was time for a change…

So Hyndberry was created. The aims of the business were simple - to continue in the style of Marynka and, using good fresh ingredients, cooking to order for private and corporate events, giving excellent customer service, and teaching cooking skills.

In 2014, after completing a Diploma in Nutrition, a new set of services was added to the business including nutrition advice and cookery lessons for special diets.

Then in 2018, we introduced Pudding Time - dinner with a different format, ie. a savoury starter followed by five different puddings. This is for true pudding lovers...

Based in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, our services are available throughout the Borders, Edinburgh and Lothians.

By the way, the business name – Hyndberry - is an old Scots word for raspberry - so named, apparently, because the deer love to eat them. The name was chosen to show an appreciation of what is arguably the epitome of Scottish seasonal produce!
